Happy New Year
Greetings from the team and an announcement.
Adoration of the Magi by Konrad Laib (1440) Image is in the public domain.
I hope your Advent went well and Christmastide was a blessing. January can have that sluggish feel to it, darker and just a month to get through; especially when one looks at there bank accounts - but not so with the Church as our teacher! We have been given the wonderful feasts of Mary, Mother of God (Jan 1st), the Epiphany with its trio of treasures (Jan 6th) which is worth meditating on for a little while longer. We also have the Baptism of the Lord (11th), feasts of St Kentigern, Agnes, Francis de Sales, Thomas Aquinas and John Bosco.
The Epiphany at one time incorporated the coming of the Magi, the Baptism of the Lord and marriage feast of Cana together, which offers up to us a chance to meditate on the wonders of the grace of God, the majesty of his transedence and humbleness of the incarnate Word. Together with the Saints as our guide we can run to the open arms of our God who in truth is the one running to us.
January often brings new intentions (like the ridiculous dry January) or joining a gym - why? But nonetheless it offers us a chance to repent and reset for Gods plan for the year. Here at the Coracle we are making a change to when we publish. Instead of fortnightly, we are returning to a once a month pattern. On the first Friday of every month you will receive into your inbox our offering for that month - 4 or 5 well written and interesting articles which we hope stir your faith and brain cells at the same time.
The reason behind this is time management - we are all volunteers with full-time jobs; additionally ensuring consistency and quality throughout the year. It also gives us the chance to spend some time looking into new developments with the magazine which I hope to be able to let you know about by the middle of the year.
So, from me, Jack, Kirsten and Stephen thank you for reading the Coracle, please do share as we go on through the year and if you have suggestions please email them to theteam@stmoluagscoracle.com.
From the Editor - Eric.
